NOOSA FOREST RETREAT IS HIRING

In Noosa Forest Retreat we treat the land and all life on it as sacred, utilising organic and permaculture farming to do so. We are not only growing nutritious food, but also creating a healthy community that is striving to meet its needs sustainably and equitably, while supporting each individual’s personal and spiritual growth. With our on-going permaculture courses, training and internships we aim to be a world class permaculture demonstration site.

Permaculture Jobs

Can you manage us?

We are now looking for an ON-SITE MANAGER to coordinate and oversee our developing community in the subtropics of Noosa hinterland. In this position you have a general overview of the property and what needs to be done. Your main task is to act as a middleman between off-site management and the people living and staying on the property. You are responsible for instructing and supervising the workers at the property and reporting back to off-site management.  You hold regular meetings with off-site management and the community members. The job includes without a doubt a fair bit of problem solving and conflict resolution too. Administrative tasks are part of your job as well as documenting daily events and reports. You keep track of the budget and purchases for the property. All this will take up a major part of your days but don’t worry – you will also get to get your hands dirty in the gardens!

To succeed in this position you need heaps of patience and people skills and a thick skin wouldn’t hurt either. We are looking for someone who is passionate about a holistic and sustainable lifestyle. A strong motivation to develop and implement new systems is needed as we strive to improve our community. Background and practical experience in permaculture or horticulture is preferred, but motivation to learn is what counts the most. Excellent time-management skills are crucial as well as good written and verbal communication skills and fluency in English. Up to date MS Office-skills come handy too. A driver’s licence is a must and own transportation is a big plus. We are a drug and alcohol free property which we ask you to respect.

With full lodging provided you live as a part of our community and share our values of fair share and care of the Earth and all creatures.  On top of food and accommodation we offer a small weekly pay, Permaculture Design Course (PDC) and an opportunity for Diploma. Valuable compensation packages and discounted land share purchase options are on the table too. How do free beach side getaways and discounted Ayurvedic treatments sound?

This is a new position and your responsibilities develop hand in hand with the progress of our community.  Your position is challenging and demanding, but it is an opportunity of a lifetime to learn and be a part of the emerging permaculture movement. Join us to make a difference!

HOW TO APPLY

Email your CV and a motivation letter to permaculture@noosaforestretreat.com as soon as possible as the position will be filled once a suitable candidate is found. Applications must specify your residential address and whether you have work rights in Australia.  Applications will be treated in confidence.

Looking forward to hearing from you!
